Fiskars

I have had family trip to Tammisari, Fiskars and Billnäs during the last week of my vacation.

With 3 dogs, it is difficult to use hotel, so using camping area in Tamisaari as Hotel.

On 2nd day, we head to Fiskars. This place is a very popular tourist spot, so lots to see. And it is the place, that company “Fiskars” was founded, so I was very exited.

So many old Fiskars products are on display. You can clearly see the craftsmanship from those. It is totally different quality from these days mass produced products.

I have been looking for this old Fiskars razor. Sometimes see them on free market, but none of them are usable condition. Would like to get one some day.

These are the old-time skis. Look at the length of those.

There was a special exhibition of “TOOLS”, so stopped by.

the Axe making steps.

Puukko making steps.

And this was quite surprising to me. Fiskars still uses WOOD for making mockups! I was imagining that these days they all uses CAD and CNC machine tools to cut out the plastic form to make mock ups, but no! it still is wood.

There were so may interesting tools on desplay, and so frastrating that cant touch any of them.

There are may buildings using BLACK bricks. First I was just thnking that “it is a very uncommon color for bricks…”. So went to have a lose look at…

And Guess What?! It is not a ordinaly brick. It is made from some kind of metal! My guess is by slag from old time blast furnace. I try to find someone who knows about it, but no sucsess.

to be continued.
